I'm somewhat puzzled by the analogy. The robot reportedly cruised fine through the Fall of 2008 and didn't have to go to cash every night. Why is there a manual override now? Is this possibly a symptom of an over-optimized trading system (relative to available backtest/analysis historical data)?
I'm encouraged by the fact that Pascal and yourself are going the extra mile in scrutinizing the system as well as taking precautionary measures when stepping in uncharted territory for the robot.

Please see my answer to Adam in the "Auto-Pilot" thread. Pascal will comment with more details, but we know his prudence and verification work before posting his official final conclusions.
