Leaders Index 1-26-26

The market had an overall positive session today, but there were some negatives. The major averages opened strong and rose to good gains. Selling came in later in the day and much of the gains were lost. The major averages finished in about the middle of their intraday trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX gained .43% and .42% respectively. The SPX rose .50%. Volume was mixed, higher on the New York and lower on the NASD. Leading stocks had a mixed session as well. The leaders index lost .47% on the day. The index closed in about the middle of its trading range on lower but above average volume. The market started off strong and had good gains by the middle of the day. Selling came in and some of those gains were lost, but the major averages still finished solidly higher. Leading stocks closed mixed after early gains. Market internals were about even. It would have been more encouraging if all the early gains held into the close, but the rally remains ok. This week will be a big week. The Fed announcement will be on Wednesday and there are a good number of important earnings announcements coming out, mostly Wednesday and Thursday. Let hope they are market friendly. Jerry
