Leaders Index 8-12-25

There was no update yesterday due to a computer problem. The market reacted well today to a friendly CPI report. The major averages opened higher and rallied the rest of the day. All the major averages finished near their intraday trading highs. The COMPQ and the NDX gained 1.39% and 1.33% respectively. The SPX was higher by 1.13%. Volume was mixed, higher on the New York and lower on the NASD. Leading stocks were strong as well. The leaders index gained 1.54% on the day. The index closed in the middle of its trading range on lower volume. The market had a strong rally today after it liked the CPI report and the chances of a rate cut next month went up. The major averages rallied pretty consistently during the day and closed strong. Volume was lower on the NASD but at least it was higher on the New York. The equal weighted ETFs matched the major averages, showing that it was a wide spread rally. All the major averages moved decisively into new high ground, which is what you want to see. There are some issues still out there and the major averages have come a long way, but the market clearly wants to go higher, so enjoy the ride. Jerry
