Leaders Index 7-16-25
The market had a volatile session today but ended on a good note. The major averages opened a bit higher but sold off on news that Powell might get fired. When it was denied the market rallied back and closed strong. All the major averages finished high in their intraday trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX gained .25% and .10% respectively. The SPX rallied .32%. Volume was higher across the board. Leading stocks had a solid session as well with the leaders index rising .48% on the day. The index closed high in its trading range on higher but below average volume. The market put in a generally positive session today. After selling off on news that Powell might be fired it rallied back when it turned out not to be true. The strong close is encouraging and the NASD averages made marginal new closing highs. The PPI came in friendly but a disappointing earnings report from ASML caused some weakness in tech stocks. The market is holding up but struggling a bit. Leading stocks are going mostly sideways as progress is difficult. Right now it still seems that the market is having some short term problems, but it is holding up pretty well for the time being.
