The market held firm today after the gains of the last few days. The major averages traded around unchanged most of the session before finishing with small gains. The SPX gained .16% while the COMPQ was up by .11%. Both closed near their intraday highs, a positive sign. Volume was slightly lower across the board. Leading stocks had modest gains as well with the leaders index higher by .19% on lower and below average volume. The index closed in the upper half of it’s intraday trading range and is well above it’s short term moving averages. We saw new highs in some of the averages and it seems the market is trying to work it’s way higher. Barring any negative news the market will probably gain something in the short term, but it doesn’t look like it has a lot of punch. Jerry
