Since today is a holiday, I take this opportunity to pass along an offer that was sent to me last December by Senco, a member of this board. I discussed this offer with Billy and Thanassis, but as we are not Tradestation specialists, we also consulted with Bob. Finally, after having it confirmed by Tradestation we decided to post here what can be considered as a commercial offer.

Please note that none of us, including Senco, is receiving any kickback/commission or payment of any sort from Tradestation to send this information. It is also not our policy to "push" commercial products here, except if we believe that there might offer a real value.

Interested persons should directly contact Frank Tiberia, the person in charge, for confirmation: FTiberia@TradeStation.com

Please use this thread to also share your experience using different trading platforms. This could be interesting to newcomers.

The offer is as followed:
1) Free Platform and Radar Screen for life.
2) Up to $500 commission rebate over first 90 days.
3) FREE data for the first 90 days based on the account type for qualified non-professionals:

*Equities accounts receive – NASDAQ Level 1, AMEX, NYSE and OPRA exchanges. (after 90 days it is $1 per month per exchange and $3 per month for the options data, $6 total)

*Futures accounts receive – Free data for all electronically traded full- and mini-sized CME, CBOT, COMEX and NYMEX futures (this become a flat $20 per month after 90 days)

Fund the account with a minimum of $5,000 and keep at least a $2,500 maintenance balance to qualify.

This is an incredibly good deal.

I have abandoned Fidelity and TradeMonster as my brokerage platforms and have the majority of my monies with TradeStation in multiple accounts.

The EffectiveVolume "ELD" (as it's called) is incredibly useful -- it will give you 1-minute EV resolution on all equities for which the account is enabled.

I recently created a video on how I use EV + GGT methods, with TradeStation, as well as correlating these with Pascal's EV Database/USA function, and this will allow you to easily see how to use both to your advantage. Access the message here (http://www.effectivevolume.com/showthread.php?3436-Updated-GGT-EV-Stocks&p=19880#post19880).

I am also using TS to keep track of cluster weighting and pivots, and am using the backtesting capabilities which are built into TS to determine if there is an "edge" to Billy's work which he provides daily in his Algo forum. Having spent a considerable amount of time with VectorVest's Simulator/Variator and Fidelity's WealthLab Pro for backtesting, I can say there are huge advantages to being able to program a concept and test it.

Watch the video and you can see how I use the TS plug-in along side Pascal's site to look at EV in real time on candidate stocks.

{ From a response I wrote to a private email. I hope the last paragraph will initiate some activity on the forums exploring use of the breadth-related indicators mentioned together with EV/MF or other tools we have }.

In my mind the most attractive element of this offer is the ‘free for life’ offer - flexibility to use the platform without any a-priory commitment to trade with TS brokerage. One can use it for charting and backtesting now, or hold off until there is time to try it; one can evaluate it for trading soon and take advantage of the free commission - or postpone this altogether in order to make the evaluation at one’s own time. This is pretty unusual for Tradestation, that otherwise charges high monthly fee for one who is not an active trader, and any past promotion for ‘free platform’ I was aware of was for only 2-3 months.

Tradestation has a lot of strong capabilities . Myself - I use it mostly for strategy backtesting and automated trading. It allows me to program proprietary indicators and strategies with EasyLanguage. The integration of a charting/testing/trading platform with their own data is powerful and convenient. The EOD/intraday historical data goes far back (and is also free or dirt-cheap if one looks at equities, or backtests delayed futures data). Something I am very interested in but has not worked with yet is the walk-forward optimizer they got by acquiring The Grail Genetic.

Recently Tradestation added to their real time data a number of breadth related indicators they calculate on their own servers – things like advance/decline volume and issues, New Highs/Lows, issues above or crossing moving averages etc. – all those calculated over various universes (e.g. S&P500, Russel 2000, Nasdaq, NYSE, all US stocks ). I am curious to find out if using those in conjunction with EV and MF will give us an additional edge.

Gosh, I just saw this. I am a former long-time Tradestation customer. But since I am no longer an active trader, the $99/mo was a bit too much for doing analytics in my spare time. I sent Frank an email asking for more details

I sent Frank an email last week, but haven't heard anything back yet (I am an existing customer). Could you post a followup to this thread if you do hear anything back from him.

Thanks.

I have exchanged a few emails with Frank about the offer. I heard from him yesterday. I started my application a couple of weeks ago and funding is currently underway.

I exchanged several emails with Frank today and have already completed the online application. FYI: per Frank, this offer is specific to the Effective Volume forum members

I've been using TS 9.0 for Multi Timeframe Pivot trading for about 1 year, and decided to take up this offer and open a second separate Futures account. With Franks assistance my new TS Futures account is now active as from today, funded if from the existing TS equities account - this was really easy. Process took about 3 days in total.

Today I've asked Frank for confirmation on the "Free Platform and Radar Screen for life", as the application forms showed a $99.95 monthly service fee.

WhenI asked him about this earlier while completing the application his reply was :

"The application most definitely mentions the platform cost.

I was given an approval via my Sales manager to extend a free platform offer to a limited number of EV group traders. Once your account is opened and funded we will set the account to not have a platform fee so long as you fund with at least $5,000 and maintain a $2500 balance".

I'm waiting on his confirmation.

I requested a confirmation also.

Here is Frank's reply:

I wanted to confirm to you that TradeStation is offering you the platform free for life.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Frank said this offer expires at the end of the month; and the account HAS to be funded by that time not just in the works.
