The market was mixed to little changed yesterday. The major averages opened a bit higher but then went sideways to slightly lower the rest of the day. All the major averages finished low in their intraday trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX gained .35% and .14% respectively. The SPX declined .11%. Volume was mixed, higher on the NASD and lower on the New York. Leading stocks were mixed on the day as well. Since there was a follow through I created a new leaders index. It contains 27 stocks that are current market leaders. The index gained 1.49% on the day. It closed in the upper half of its trading range on lower and below average volume. The market had a fairly quiet session after a good week. The NASD seems to be reasserting its leadership right now and it produced moderate gains yesterday. A lot of things are falling into place for a tradable rally. There was a follow through on the SPX and it looks like the weekly Coppock will signal next week, provided there is no big sell off next week. The problem right now is the war. The market rallied on a cease fire, and that may not hold. There is a meeting in Pakistan this weekend and the results will affect the market. If there was no war I would be in heavily at this point. Right now it pays to be a bit cautious due to events in the Middle East. Jerry
