The market got nailed today. The major averages opened lower and it was all downhill from there. All the major averages finished near the bottom of their intraday trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX fell 2.38% each. The SPX lost 1.74%. Volume was lower across the board. Leading stocks were clobbered today. The leaders index fell 7.97% on the day. The index closed low in its trading range on slightly higher but below average volume. The index is now clearly below its 50dma. The market selloff deepened today, with weakness across the board. The major averages suffered significant losses and the leading stocks were even harder hit. The NASD averages took out their recent lows and the New York averages are right at theirs. The decline in the major averages are well into intermediate term correction territory and are showing few signs of arresting their declines. The only good thing you can say about today is that volume was lower. The market continues to react to news from the middle east and oil prices. There is no reason to be in this market right now. There will be no update tomorrow. Jerry
