The market put in a moderately positive session today. The major averages opened strong, but spent most of the rest of the day working their way lower. All the major averages finished in the lower half of their intraday trading ranges, but still with decent gains. The COMPQ and the NDX rallied .77% and .67% respectively. The SPX gained .54%. Volume was lower across the board. Leading stocks were mixed on the day. The leaders index was lower by .24% and closed high in its trading range. The index closed high in its trading range on lower and slightly below average volume. The index held its 17dma. The market built on yesterday’s gains, but I don’t think today’s action did anything to change the overall picture. The market remains in its trading range, and is at the lower end. The market is still subject to what is going on in the middle east and the price of oil. The major averages are in correction territory and could go lower before this correction(bear?) is done. On the other hand a positive resolution in the middle east could spark a tradable rally. Right now watching from the sidelines until we know more is a good plan. Jerry
