The market had a moderately negative session today. The major averages opened lower and made a couple of rally attempts, but ended up closing in negative territory. The New York averages closed in about the middle of their intraday trading ranges while the NASD averages finished low in theirs. Volume was lower across the board. Leading stocks actually had a decent day. The leaders index gained 1.93% on the day. The index closed in about the middle of its intraday trading range on lower and about average volume. The market started off weak and tried to rally, but it didn’t hold. The market couldn’t build on yesterday’s positive action. Leading stocks did fairly well today, but like the major averages, they are stuck in a sideways pattern. The market has gone nowhere since early last November. We are stuck in a trading range right now and at this point I don’t see a quick exit. We will have to see how the conflict in the middle east goes, but it is a good time to be in cash. Jerry
