The market put in a solid performance today. The major averages opened higher and worked their way up most of the remainder of the session. All the major averages finished high in their intraday trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX gained .91% and .88% respectively. The SPX rallied .41%. Volume was higher across the board. Leading stocks were strong as well. The leaders index gained 2.26% on the day. The index closed high in its trading range on lower and above average volume. The market had a strong session today with good gains in the major averages and leading stocks. The SPX made a new high today and the COMPQ closed above its recent consolidation and only has to overcome a few days action back in November to make a new high. Volume also cooperated by increasing on both exchanges. Market internals were mildly positive and the equal weighted ETFs of the major averages were mixed. The NASD averages led the way today and some seemingly well received earnings reports after the close today may help. The rest of the week will see about a half a dozen potentially market moving news items, from earnings reports from Mag 7 companies to a Fed announcement. A lot could happen by the end of the week, but right now the rally looks pretty good. I will be away for a few days. The updates will resume on Monday. Jerry
