The market had a strong session today. The major averages opened higher and worked their way up the rest of the day. All the major averages finished high in their intraday trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX gained .98% and .93% respectively. The SPX rallied .83%. Volume was mixed, higher on the New York and lower on the NASD. Leading stocks were higher on the day as well. The leaders index gained .44% on the day. The index closed high in its trading range on lower and below average volume. The market put in a good session today. The major averages opened higher and gained ground all day, closing with good gains. The SPX made a small new high. Market internals were good. The major averages are continuing in their sideways action, but are holding up pretty well so far in September. There are some items of concern, but the market is acting well and the rally is on track. There are some conflicting signals, but overall the rally looks good. The major averages are consolidating right now and if we are lucky this pattern will continue through September and get the market to more seasonally positive times. Jerry
