The market continued its encouraging performance today. The major averages opened higher and worked their way up for the rest of the session. All the major averages finished high in their intraday trading ranges, a positive sign. The gains were pretty evenly divided with the COMPQ and the NDX gaining .71% and .72% respectively. The SPX gained .74%. Volume was mixed. It gained 9.46% on the Nasd and fell 2.84% on the New York. Leading stocks were mixed today with the leaders index declining 1.11% on the day. A couple of other ETF’s of leading growth stocks were mildly higher on the day. The leaders index closed high in its trading range on lower and below average volume. The market continued its positive action after the follow through last week. The major averages opened higher and held the gains the rest of the session. The strong close is good and continued the pattern of recent strong closes. The leaders index was lower today, but it declined on lower volume, so the selling pressure in quality growth stocks was not that great. The market is acting well and the rally looks like it is in good shape. Jerry
